Ignite Your S.H.I.N.E. FUNnote
The Ignite Your S.H.I.N.E.® keynote (or FUNnote as we like to call it) is the best way to introduce educators to the social-emotional learning framework which is backed by brain research and applies seamlessly to your content. We’ve shared the Ignite Your S.H.I.N.E. FUNnote in schools all over the world, and the feedback we receive is so incredibly positive. Unlike most keynotes, attendees actually want the information we share. Educators stay engaged as we take them through the framework, and show them how to apply it with students. Do we get people up out of their chair? YES! Do we have fun? YES! Do we get educators and administrators fired up and inspired to aim for a higher level of achievement? ABSOLUTELY!
Redesigning Lessons into Learning Engagements
Understanding what students can and want to learn will drive engagement, so why not plan that way? Use your existing plans to find spaces to open some opportunities for increased student engagement. Teaching staff will dig into aspects of student engagement and how to design effective learning opportunities that will increase student investment in learning. All things that can be built into instruction at any level, with any content, right away.

The Minimalist Teacher Journey
It is impossible to list the numerous tasks teachers do, and decisions they make each day. In today’s educational context, under the endless expectations, teachers feel compelled to work in a way that is not healthy or sustainable. Recognizing the fatigue teachers face and addressing how capacity can be built by refocusing attention on the essentials can help skilled educators want to remain in the profession. How do we reduce this fatigue and shift from ‘everything is important’ to the things that are actually our priorities? Bringing a minimalist mindset to the classroom can help shed the burden of too many initiatives, strategies, and “things” in general. Participants will engage in reflection activities and work with tools created by the authors to begin planning for a more sustainable future in their profession.
Changing the Culture of Learning by Rethinking "Behavior Management"
Establishing a strong culture in a leaning space is essential for the success of teachers and their students. In this workshop, teaching staff will evaluate aspects of positive school and/or classroom cultures and make changes to their current classroom management systems .to support positive behaviors and eliminate the undesirable ones.
